Blacksmithing

Production skill

Blacksmithing covers two stations: smelting ore into bars at a fuelled furnace, and smithing bars into equipment at an anvil.

Alpha guide. All values on this page are current Alpha data. Additional metals and recipes will be added during development.

Mechanics

Smelting consumes ore and furnace fuel; the furnace is stocked with logs, whose fuel values come from Firemaking (Logs 2, Oak 3, Willow 4). Smithing at an anvil consumes bars and no fuel. All current actions channel for 3.0 seconds.

All skills use the same experience curve. Level 100 is skill mastery (955,336 XP); level 999 is legendary mastery (253,245,203 XP). See the experience table for the full curve.

Smelting the bars yourself adds its own XP on top of the values shown. Iron Platebodies (level 33, 125 XP from 5 Iron bars) are an alternative where iron is cheaper than steel.

Tips.
  • Anvil XP scales with bars used (2 per bronze bar, 4 per iron, 7 per steel), so platebodies — five bars per action — are the fastest anvil XP per hour.
  • One full smelt-to-smith cycle for a Bronze Platebody: 5 copper + 5 tin + 10 furnace fuel → 10 smelting XP, then 10 smithing XP.
  • Stock the furnace with the highest logs you can burn — willow's fuel value of 4 means fewer stoking trips per steel session.
  • All smithed weapons and armour are tradeable on the Tideboard.
