Cooking
Production skillCooking is the skill of turning raw ingredients into food. Cooked food restores hitpoints when eaten; burnt food is worthless.
Alpha guide. All values on this page are current Alpha data. Additional recipes will be added during development.
Mechanics
Cooking is performed at a fire or range with raw food in the backpack. Each attempt either succeeds — granting XP and the cooked food — or burns the food, granting nothing.
The burn chance is exact: burn = 1 − (your level − recipe level) ÷ 99, clamped between 0 and 1. At a recipe's required level every attempt burns; 99 levels above it, none do. Cooking on a range halves the burn chance, and a range accepts any recipe a fire does.
All skills use the same experience curve. Level 100 is skill mastery (955,336 XP); level 999 is legendary mastery (253,245,203 XP). See the experience table for the full curve.
Recipes
| Food | Level | XP | Raw ingredient | Heals | Station | Cook time | Max XP/hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shrimps | 1 | 2 | Raw Shrimps | 3 | Fire or range | 3.0s | 2,400 |
| Sardine | 5 | 3 | Raw Sardine | 4 | Fire or range | 3.0s | 3,600 |
| Trout | 15 | 6 | Raw Trout | 7 | Fire or range | 3.0s | 7,200 |
| Pot of Flour | 1 | 2 | Grain | — | Windmill | 3.0s | 2,400 |
Rates are theoretical maximums: 3,600 seconds ÷ action time × XP per action, ignoring respawn and travel time. Burns reduce real rates, most sharply just above each recipe's required level.
Training
| Levels | Method | XP needed | Successful cooks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | Shrimps | 533 | 267 |
| 5–15 | Sardine | 1,455 | 485 |
| 15–100 | Trout | 953,348 | 158,892 |
Counts are successful cooks only; expect extra raw food to cover burns at low relative levels.
- Use a range whenever one is available — half the burn chance at every level, with no downside.
- Cooking above a recipe's level cuts burns fast: 50 levels over halves the fire burn chance on its own.
- Raw food one tier below your best still grants full XP and burns less; cooking cheap Sardine can out-train burning expensive Trout in the early 20s.
- Grinding Grain at the windmill grants Cooking XP and needs no fire, level, or burn roll.
