Reading an item's market
This page is the deep look at a single good on the Tideboard, Isles of Calamity's player-driven marketplace. Pick any item from the items & market hub to see its full trading picture. Here's what each part tells you:
- The tide is the item's official, game-wide price. It turns on a fixed schedule — every six hours — so it settles out the noise of individual trades into one fair reference value the whole world shares.
- Local prices break that down by settlement. Each town's tideboard is its own market, so the same good can be dearer where it's scarce and cheaper where it's plentiful — the difference is a trader's profit.
- Price history charts the volume-weighted daily average over time, so you can see whether a good is trending up, sliding, or holding steady before you buy or sell.
- Recent trades lists the latest real exchanges — unit price, quantity, and total — so you can gauge how active a market is right now.
Together these turn buying and selling into a game of its own: gather where a good is common, sell where it's dear, and read the tide before it turns. Live data flows once the game is running; during development this is the economy system taking shape.
